We moved from LA to Fairbanks Alaska and have terrible internet.
actually we use a MiFi from Verizon.. So downloading basically ceased.
We love the apple TV but after a good 7 years with them they are starting to show their age.
we have two networks. the mifi, and airport express th links are apple tv to itunes. but we have to switch from one to the other to either be online or wch TV and movies.. is there another way?
any idea's does the new apple TV allow more options?

Weird bug not sure if it's iOS 5 beta 7 specific but let me as the scene:

I rented "Knowing" (pretty crap btw but some gre effects) and the rental period now expired. When I open "Movies" app I get the message "y rental period "knowing (2009) expired" and the app closes bee I can even delete the file. Funnily enough (although not th funny) I also get kicked out of "Music" in the same way. I am theree unable to play any of the media on my phone which is kind of sh*t as I am currently on holiday!

Anybody seen bee or have any ideas? I tried rerenting the film to see if it would reactive the rental but it's actually downloading a whole new copy. Feeling pretty bummed out without my films and tunes so any ideas welcome.

Note I have tried switching off and on as well as rebooting. No joy. And as I am on holiday I do not have PC or iTunes access.

Since installing 'Anna' (which gre) I've getting a bizarre error (from time to time). Occasionally when I restart the phone (something I don't do often) because the Music Player crashed (and will not restart) the phone boots up seems to be working fine and then suddenly comes up with a message saying

"startup error contact phone retailer" (I think I'm paraphrasing a little...sorry)

none of the keys work after message and I usually have to go through a number of restarts to clear the problem. However it does eventually clear and then the phone seems to work with no problem.

Am I missing something obvious or should I reinstall Anna or is a intermitent hardware issue?

Any thoughts much apprecied

Okay a friend of mine modem(given by BSNL),and a weird problem is cropping up. there are 4 led's on it,and the "PC/USB" led glows during startup but as soon as the logon screen(win xp) appears the "PC/USB" led turns off.
He can't connect to the internet(obviously). Any ideas on wh the problem might be? :\

I am looking a backlit keyboard and have shortlisted Microsoft Side Winder X4 and Logitech G110.

I will mostly be using it office work and gaming once in a while (crysis and some other FPS games). So I am really not looking a gaming keyboard but a backlit one with some good feures I use lot of macros in MS Office.

Logitech seems to be a little over budget me. So whether it is safe to go X4 or spend few extra bucks and get the G110 or there are some other recommendions?

I need the Development Tools package a CentOS machine on an intranet. So I built a CentOS desktop VM where it can touch the internet to pull down the needed packages. http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/centos...cccompiler/
shows theres 105 packages. When I run the command:

yum downloadonly downloaddir=. y groupinstall "Development Tools"
I get 49 th need to be installed. It wont download whs installed already. I found one post th suggested adding installroot=. to the command. But then yum doesnt like the URL the repo.

Ideas on how I can get all these packages. The machine I need on, doesnt even have make or binutils installed, its very barebones.

I plan on getting a 2500k and I need some help choosing the right MB. Im currently coming from an AMD 955BE and will be my first intel build. I plan on doing major OCing to the 2500k since I got a WC setup so a board ths good with OCing would be ideal, I also have two flashed 6950s th will be running in crossfire. Another thing is I currently have 8gb of RAM and I was wondering if i could continue using th or would it be best a RAM upgrade as well and if so wh would you recommend. And finally I was thinking about getting a SSD but I dont have much knowledge about them so any help with th would be apprecied. My budget the MB is around $200$250 and around $100$150 the SSD. Recently purced an Xfi Titanium Champion and to complement the new sound card I'm looking into a new set of speakers.

I've narrowed my choices down to

the Corsair SP2500 (2.1) ($200)
the Logitech Z906 (5.1) ($280)

I know is like comparing apples and pears but I'm not sure which one I should go with

I heard th the SP2500 better sound quality...but I'd like to preserve my 5.1 set up if possible

but I've heard th the Z906 isn't th good

i found lots of new android phones relased in past few monts from sony ericson and samsung.
im not sure about ,but one of my friends suggessted th samsung android phones are better than sony ericson coz of better harware quality in them.but i couldnt find enough reason the same.

i came across 3 sony ericson phones and 2 samsung phones ,

on the other hand Samsung phones galaxy y pro give the handset a classy look with integred qwerty keypad n al and galaxy xcover is a toughphone (Wer resistant,shock proof,dust proof etc)

i have not much idea in android phones,my frnd is planning to buy one next month.

Hi all,

I am looking buying a good 5.1 speaker set. I previously had Creive T6060. Was very happy with it movies mostly till it stopped working since yesterday.

I was very much interested in Edifier C3, but the contact number mentioned Chennai is no longer in use. Next was Logitech X540, which is impossible to get now. So is also out...

Now I am in a serious dilemma between Creive T6100 and Logitech Z506. Though Z506 is the replacement of X540, read many reviews th they were not good and the bass especially was muddy. My main point is whever speaker I buy, should be lot better than my old T6060 (and ofcse budget limited to 8K, pls!).

Now the question I dont mind paying the extra amount Z506, but will it truly be very good compared to T6060 / T6100.

Sorry the long post. I have spent so much time in reading many reviews and still not close to a conclusion.

Once in awhile I will go to open my safari and use te Internet and I will get message th says "safari cannot open page right now because it is not connected to the Internet". Safari wouldn't load, facebook app wouldn't work, the weher app would work ect. So I just put my phone down and in a couple hs I picked it back up and everything was fine and running smooth. I didn't do one single thing but put it down and try it again ler. Any thoughts why safari and the I Internet/3G maybe do ?

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my old mobile phone to a SGSII. My old mobile phone only had the basic functions. No camera, no Internet, no apps... So the jump to a smart phone is definitely a big one me.

Wh I hope to be able to do with phone is to be able to use it basic entertainment like Internet surfing, playing some games/music/videos. So I was wondering if anyone here could point me in the right direction? E.g. Would the stock browser suffice or would you recommend something else? Is an antivirus necessary? Anything th you guys can recommend to make my SGSII experience a pleasant one? And so on...

the record, I do not intend to root my phone now...

whenever i insert a usb drive it shows in my computer but Autorun process is slow ,and it takes about 15 minute to autorun,,

just bought board used "as is" cheap. was told it ran fine though. anyway, i am probably doing something incorrectly, but if i put 3 sticks in the correct triple channel slots it only reads 4 gigs of memory. i swapped out the sticks and the same thing happened so it isn't the ram. i can boot and install windows with the 3 DIMMS installed but it is incredibly unstable. so far it boots, installs and runs with just 1 DIMM installed. is there something i am doing incorrectly?

My new Galaxy S2 problem: the flight mode is being actived on its own on the phone and my calls are being dropped and again after disabling the flight mode its being actived after 1 min...its really frusting me....when i went back to shop it was working fine in front of them and the told me it was my old sim card problem and it should be fine when the new sim card is actived but my new sim is actived like 2 hrs ago but I'm having the same problem even i tried other sim cards which i have .but no use.

well my friend lives in the middle of nowhere and waited years and years with no internet. Cricket offers a unlimited cdma modem houses out way.

So he bought himself one. Knowingt tha the 5gb with speed and tholled internet the rest of the month with lower much slower download res.

Cause under fair rights they have posted everywhere. yes they are not lying by posting unlimited everywhere. Cause speed is not unlimited like connection too the interent is.


So he runs around 10k most of the month . They doublw bill him 3 months in a rolla now they took it too the level. they ficked him off on unlimited internwt saying he downloaded 25gig with 10k a sec dl speed 23 days. Top it off they waited till it was the first of the next month. Internet aspeed reset and him paying oujt 40 usd the next month of servie.

Only they took his money and more or less told him too fuck off about. hell th e shit just isnt right....

Hi everyone,
could somebody PLEASE help me to find out wh adhesive I need to glue the glass screen lens to the LCD display in a Samsung Galaxy S? I have broken the glass and managed to remove it from the LCD screen. I found a layer of gummy glue about 1/3 of the glass thickness between the two th turns out whitish while I was removing it. Does anybody know wh could it be and where I can buy it?

Anyone else on TiPb having problems with it? I checked the Firefox um, and it seems to be an issue, but not really widespread.

about a week I found myself constantly rebooting my MBA because Firefox was freezing. And then it occurred to me th it was really only Firefox th was having problem. I've using Firefox ever, and am disappointed th it's becoming unusable. (I need 3 browsers due to the number of Google accounts I have to work with.)

anyone had the problem and fixed it? Revert to an older version? Thoughts?

[Tech] Booting Issues with Windows Xp

Hi

I am having a problem with my Windows Xp installion. Till yesterday it was working fine. Curious as always with my OS, I scheduled a disk check to be permed the next time when I log in. morning when I woke up and switched on my pc, I found th my windows wont boot. After it displays the windows XP logo, then while directing it to the log on screen it hangs up. It just displays the message " Windows is starting up " and nothing happens. Then after 1015 mins it displays the log in screen, I enter my User ID and password, then again it hangs up.
Please help me...

is My Sixth Try! "as TwelveHundred modding". :)
theme is White Gears. :)

I painted all fans to white, made just "12" Gear fanguards from plastic ples. I changed fan's all blue LEDs to White LEDs.
So, I made many White Gears.:)

And... sorry me to long explanion.

One Big Characteristic of Antec's case is "Honeycomb mesh".
Honeycomb is shape of Nest of the bee. It's strong shape and nice Air Flow machine's fan. :)
TwelveHundred uses Honeycomb shape mesh to front mesh, Top fan's mesh, rear mesh, side mesh..and so on.
And..There are many fans "in the back of the honeycomb mesh".
Please hear point..! :)I have paid my all tention to Characteristic design!! :)

I painted sidepanel which is already painted by silver by me to honeycomb mesh by Airbrush paint.
I made honeycomb mesh maskingsheet by myself.
Next, I painted White Gears in "back space in the honeycomb mesh". Back is very important customizing.
Next, I painted black clouds and thunder, they are the contrast images white colors.
They enhances Whte Gears desigin. :)
Finally I painted TWELVE HUNDRED Logo.:)

Acrylic SidePanel are also painted by the same concept desigin. :)

Case mod club is one of my participion of case modding party. Now It's little..,but There are many nice mod friends.:)

The white Two Cs are my modding case's symbole. Please see my past post, you my friends will find same cs. ;)

About The Frontbay, I painted 12 fans controller and disk drive by the same concepts, Honeycomb mesh.:)
Finally, I made little LED BlackHole. I used mirror sheet and mirror film and white LED tape.
Light seems to continue in the depths by doing so. :)

I bought a new macbook air yesterday and I cannot play videos on youtube? why? it says something about upgrading flash player but do not want to do th unless it is necessary. I did see something about right clicking on the video and opting out of Html 5????

Hi everybody,

I just got my 2500K with Asus Sabertooth P67 Rev3. I installed my goodold Ultra 120 with a pair of Noctua FLX fan and silver thermal compound. Until now I tried 4.0 GHz and 4.2 GHz without any Vcore changes; seems stable but I'd like to compare my temps readings with ys; notice th I took my reading with an ambient temperure about 27 C.

Idle (Windows 7 Desktop): 3538 C
Load (Metro 2033 Benchmark): 5055 C
Stress (max over Lynx 64bit): 7982 C


Those seem a little too high a Sandy with TRUE dissy... isn't it?

I cross checked the temperures with CoreTemp, OpenHardwareMonitor and OCCT4Beta.

is wh everyone do...


Wh's bad about it:
the part where GPU is lower fins because fan occupies th space
exhausts half of the he inside the case, warming everything up inside

Wh's good about it:
cheap cooler components
easy to make

And here is my design...

(please note th is still a dual slot cooler design even though schemics look like its a single slot)

Wh's bad about it:
they'd have to slightly redesign the VRM part and the power connectors if there are any

Wh's good about it:
exhausts all the hot air from the case
can use exactly the same cooler components as the above Club3D card
part where GPU is higher fins



I was working with several cooler designs till now, back in the days of Gece FX i even designed one myself as a prototype out of cardboard based on the FlowFX coolers used on GeceFX cards (which i think were the first exhaust coolers). I know could be done and used on lower end cards like the Club3D on the picture above and even on a bit higher end ones. You don't need a centrifugal fan to do it so it's rher cheap and easy to do it. Just move it to the end of the card (away from the signal outputs), place it under slight angle (or not) and close the part th would otherwise dump the he inside the case.
PSU's have similar cooling decades. Besides, it's not much different than the cooler used on the CLub3D card above, just slightly redesigned.

I hope anyone from any graphics cards company is reading and th we might see something based on in a near future. They also have the necessary tech and resces to make proper cooler prototype of sort using plastic merial instead of cardboard and equipment to test the thermodynamics of such cooler. I'm looking ward to ...

thread is also an open discussion if anyone else any other idea cooling th just might work, yet we haven't seen it anywhere till now. Either an idea how you would improve my cooler idea or one made from scrch th you thought of yself.

My project work my college starts from the month of December. I will be using PHP and web designing tools(Dreamweaver, Photoshop etc) but I would also like to play some high end games. Basically I need a bit of future proof laptop. My budget in Rs50,000 maybe a little more and not much.

My main requirements are minimum i5 processor, more than 4GB RAM and good graphic card gaming.
I found th The new Dell Inspiron 14R may suite my need which :

My problem with XPS is th it's 15'6 inch screen is bulky. I want something portable like 14inch which is not available in XPS series. On the other hand XPS series is very customizable and Inspiron is NOT. I would like to customize some nifty feures like 9 cell bteries and keyboard backlight and also little bit of luxury like maybe 2GB graphics card which can't be done on Inspiron.

I already own a Dell desktop with Core 2 Duo processor 4GB ram and 19 inch monitor. Now I need something portable, and you can also know my trust with Dell had Desktop from 4 years and it runs perfect and I had never had any problems.

Now The Dilemma of the processors
I am going to order the laptop on November 17th and by December 17th I may get it in hand. But lely I have hearing about AMD Bulldozer series processor which sound uber exciting. And now if I get the laptop in December and Dell releases new AMD bulldozer based laptops in February it would be like thousand sharp knives pierced on my chest. As I said I want my laptop to be a little future proof.

Im trying to get my android phone to connect to my laptop internet through wifi without success.. My wifi adapter is RT73 USB WLAN and my phone is Micromax A70..Im running Windows XP..

Ive tried mhotspot, connectify and virtual router without success..(virtual router doesnt work properly in xp)..

Connectify didnt show my wifi card when it asked me to choose ... and mhotspot didnt do anything lol...

Any help ?? or is there any other way to access pc internet from my android phone ??...

And i ve also tried running adhoc mode but android phones dont detect it nively...

I have a couple of cases my iPad 2, both are "slim fit" hard cases th are compible with the Smart Cover.

I was wanting to buy a charging Dock but it's my understanding the Apple OEM dock will not work with a case on the iPad. Is there a 3rd party dock th will work? I find it surprising with the huge number of cases available th there's not a readily available dock to accommode a little extra thickness.

here, I will explain. My PC just died on me (again) and I need to upgrade 5 year old friend.
Budget is ~20k.

I have a Sapphire 8400GS (looking to upgrade it), monitor, cabinet, 5 gb of DDR2 ram.

I was thinking of saving money on RAM and mobo as they can be added ler. So I want to go with a stopgap kinda mobo with a decent gfx card (which wont need upgrade). So any decent combinion would do as mobo can and will be upgraded ler (after say 810 months). now, I think my E6300 will do.

Ill need a good PSU time. No compromise time. A CM or Corsair or any other new good brand.

UPS (1 kva) would be good as I only have a 600 va one right now and even th is not working properly.

So HDD, RAM, and UPS are 3 things which I have with me but will have to buy since they are either very cheap or need replacement.

I am looking I 6770.
Mind you, i dont have time gaming these days but still would like to buy a decent card which can play new games. I do not need an absolute permer. An older generion's better permer a less priuce would do then a new generion's costlier one)

Do I need to buy a mysql commercial license in order to sell my software or should I switch to MSSQL in my program? I don't want to release under GPL.

My wife and I are planning on leaving Los Angeles next year and moving to Denver, but we're considering jumping from &T to Verizon within the next few weeks when the new iPhone comes out (assuming it's released on both networks simultaneously). Anyone here live in Denver and can give any insight on how the overall reception is in the Denver area? We're thinking we'll probably end up living south of the city in the Highlands Ranch/Littleton/Centennial area, but didn't know if those were notoriously bad areas either &T or Verizon, and I'd also heard th Consumer Reports red &T's Denver coverage the worst of all cities. The Denver Post also mentioned something about a dead zone &T in downtown Denver, and I saw th people have complained th anytime there's a game Invesco or Mile High, the surrounding areas lose service because of the flood of &T phones. I didn't know if Verizon people had experienced the same issues.

&T's service here in Los Angeles is bad enough to warrant us switching now, but I didn't want to sign a twoyear contract only with Verizon only to find out a year into it th we should've stayed with &T.

Hi guys, sorry another problem thread!

Built pc, thought everything was running stable but i got another BSOD earlier. After it rebooted i get a message saying 'the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible 0xc000000e'.

Currently i have the two OCZ Agility 3 (with lest firmware) running on the Jmicron SA 2 ports in RAID 0 on my Sabertooth X58 motherbood and i randomly get problem. Doesn't seem to be any ptern to it. HDTune shows no errors on the Hard drive error check.

The odd thing is th didn't happen when it was plugged into the marvel SA 3 controller, it was just slower... because marvel are terrible > so i have figured out th it must be something to do with the RAID controller on the motherboard? I have the lest JMicron SA drivers from the official ASUS web.

Another curious thing (not sure if it is reled but i am going to post it anyway) is th bee i rebooted it earlier HDtune was benching the hard drives and showing th i was getting 2.5gb a second which is impossible.. don't know if any relevance however..

I did a memtest earlier in the day to make sure th the RAM was running stable. It did one pass and no errors were found so i am ruling out the ram.

Here are the specs

Sabertooth x58 Asus Motherboard
24 GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM (i was told by the person i was building it they wanted 24gb of RAM) 10101027 1.575V @ 1866Mhz
Intel 980x @ Stock Arctic Freezer 7 PRO rev 2 (i have no intentions of overclocking)
XFX I 5770 1GB
Corsair Modular 750 Wt PSU

I haven't done much in the way of recent activity.. downloaded core temp, prime 95, speed fan and crysis demo.. played the demo a bit, installed USB 3.0 drivers and did a few windows updes (all had done on marvel raid controller and was stable)

I want to up my NB Freq to least 2200, but i had a little confusion when doing so. in my mobo, there are three things, NB FID, HT width and HT link speed. both NB FID and HT link speed i can increase to 2400. I set both of them to 2400, but when i use CPUZ, my HT link speed is still 1600, where as my NB freq went to 2400 nicely. So i don't get how to up my HT link (I am assuming upping the HT link improves permance?)

And last question, should I change my ht width? The options are auto, 4x, 8x, 16x

Sorry to post another thread so soon but I have wierd problem th my 1080p tv will only display the computer properly the computers nive resolution of 1366x768. I know how to manually change the resolution and I have to 1920x1080 and it displays in a weird stretched fashion. Not everything fits on the screen and it looks blurry i assume because its stretching it somehow. Anyone know why it does ?

I know there is already a thread on speedtest.net results but I've looked all of the posts and only seen one result I think from a Three user.

I am now on the One Plan with Three and would be interested to know wh da connection speeds people are getting on the s2 with th particular provider.

Reason I ask is cos when I got my contract, the only phone I could afd was the htc wildfire s which lousy speeds and I am now looking to sell some items to raise enough money to buy the iphone 4 or the s2 as both those phones have better speeds, thougn I suspect the s2 is better and th's the one I really want.

So, if anybody on here the s2 and is on the Three network, would you be kind enough to post y speeds me? Doesn't mter which plan you're on, I just want to get an idea of wh to expect.

Sorry starting another speed thread but it is specifically the s2 results I want to see.

1. The issue now is th I need to add a way in the setup to configure the my.settings settings my applicion relies on to run. Wh is the best way to do ?
2. Does signing my code somehow keep my code safe? Or is it just peace of mind to end users? How do I go about doing it? And Do I really need to a commercial applicion I plan to market?
3. My applicion throws an access denied exception when accessing anything in a folder creed by it's installer... how do I avoid ?

So th is the system, I am replacing all of the stock case fans with the Cougars tons of airflow in the case and filling all fan slots with them as well. I am choosing not to include a 140mm into the side panel (until I upgrade to an SLI setup) and not to replace the top 180mm fan (as I have read places th the exhaust channel area the 180mm fan stifles any additional air flow you can get from something like the penetror). I realize the video card is not as intense as the rest but I feel th it should be able to handle a decent overclock with the case airflow combined with the aftermarket HS/fans and last least another year bee a out upgrade is needed.

So, wh do you guys think? any questions? comments? something you think I missed? or if you think I am an idiot. I would like to hear. I am pretty easy going and open to any conversion you might have. Parts should be in by mid/le next week (Sept.1216) and I will take pictures of everything when they all arrive.

Oh and does anybody reading have any suggestions about replacing stock hesinks on specific MB? necessary?
