[Tech] New build not starting up

I am doing my first build. I have an EVGA X58 mob (bought used) with an i7 8MB 1366 (bought used), 24 GB Corsair 1366 RAM, 1050 Wt PS, and will be running 3x Radeon HD 5670's. I am trying to get to config BIOS but as of yet, I am still not getting any display to the HDMI TV. I am not sure if I need to get a cheep VGA card to get through initial setup or not. All of the fans are coming on and the lights on the MOB are illumined but there are not any beeps or any sounds of the HDD's spooling up. Any ideas?

I've searching and searching a reason but I haven't found one so I'm hoping maybe someone here might help. Here is the problem:

While playing Bad Company 2 (Only happens during game, haven't seen it anywhere else), my screen flickers then goes black all 3D objects. The HUD in game is still there, and it only lasts about 30 to 90 seconds, but it's hard to enjoy a game while keeps happening. and it seems to go in and out as I move through the level and then it will stop. There seems to be no ptern to it.

Any help is grely apprecied! :)

Hi guys!
I was reading a book my teacher gave me (in fact he gave me a lot of books)
The book is about realtime rendering, but it more science (optics and waves)
There are also programming things, but do i need a book like th to read it?
I think i should focus on another book which the programming of graphics first
than after i know all the basics i should start reading book.
It all the lest technologies mentioned in there, like using the cuda cores,
making the animion look realistic, mh or physics laws.
Is a good idea? Or should i just read the book and move on to programming? :confused:
(It also mentions, 10 hidden algorithms about the graphics, in a photo of Assasin's Creed)

[Tech] Is it safe to bypass the SSID check when flashing new vbios?

Hello, I have an ASUSmanufactured I Radeon HD 5850 1G and it the awful gray vertical line crash. After doing some investiging, I'm told th a fix to the vbios fixed problem the 5800series cards. (I got my machine in 11/2009, and apparently the fix the vbios was released just a few months after th. As to why I went almost two years without really experiencing problem, I can't say, but I sure as heck got it now.)

So I went to TPU's awesome video bios page and found the available vbios files my card. Oh! First, I actually opened my case and looked the card to confirm the manufacturer and model. And yes, definitely ASUS, definitely a 5850.

So anyway, both vbios files th I've tried have given me an error sting th the SSIDs don't mch. :(

Is normal? Is it safe to use the fs flag to ce flash bypassing the SSID check? I really don't want to end up with a bricked card. Someone, please reassure me. ;)

Apple today released a new line of beta updes the following applicions:

  • iTunes 10.5
  • AppleTV
  • iWork iOS


In regards to iTunes 10.5 Beta 8, not a ton of components were upded or in need of "fixing". The primary focus of the updes ( all the applicions in question) was minor bug fixes and some permance enhancements. Now to beg the question: when will iOS 5 release? Will there be another iOS 5 beta release

It's hard to believe it's almost 10 years since sad day in American history. I was listening to the news the other day and it seems like a lot of kids today don't even know wh day is all about. Some teachers have decided to keep educion of day out of their classroom, which I also find sad and hard to comprehend why is. My 2 children were practically babies on day, but I take the time each and every year to discuss wh happened on on 9/11 with them and make sure th they never get....

I hope in the right um if not please feel free to move it. I currently have a 46 sony tv with my xbox 360 hooked up with a hdmi connection. Is there anyway th I can go from hdmi to compo to a pci card in my pc? I'm trying to capture game play times, I already have a hdmi powered splitter but i need to figure out a way to go from hdmi to compo(rca) to my capture card. I already bought one of those cheap hdmi to compo cables off of ebay but plugging it into the splitter I guess the signal isn't being detected??? The splitter lights up above each hdmi cable when the tv is turned on but i hook up the hdmi to compo I get nothing.....

I tried to use bitcoim miner on my laptop which i 5650m, but after 10 minutes, my screen had some green, yellow, rainbow color, then I restarted my laptop and used system recovery. After doing th, I set up some basic function with refresh window and log in; however, when it logged in, i heard the sound of window, but the screen is black. So I turned of the laptop , and boot into safe mode, but nothing wrong, still see window in my safe mode with not problem. I typed dxdiag in run, and didn't see any display number. Was my motherboard damage? or just software issue

in a moment of beeing distracted of a phone call ive managed to download n flash a wrong bios on my XFX HD 6850 video card.

resulted in complete card failure, meaning fans of the card still spin, but there it ends the card is also not recognized by iflash in dos anymore, sending iflash i reports back "no adapter found".

Luckily i found a thread here on TPU where W1zzard and some other ppl managed to revive even dead cards th dont get regcognized anymore with a pin 1+8 shorting recovery method.

I`ll have to do th because its my only option as XFX wont replace the card, and i dont want to bury a 120

Someone I know is going away and wants to wch downloaded movies from his laptop and display them on the hotel room's HDTV. The laptop in question is fairly old and only VGA out, no HDMI. I googled it and saw VGA to HDMI but it said something like "NO COMPUTER/LAPTOP", so I'm not sure wh th's even used then. I'm not really sure wh to suggest to him, any thoughts on wh he can use to display the movies on the TV? Sound isn't a huge issue, he can have th play from the laptop itself.

1. Which of the following monitors should i buy

dell IN2030m rs 6250/
benq gl2030 rs 5750/
acer s202hl rs 6000/

are all the above LED monitors?

2. Is the GT 520 (Rs3300/)similar to HD 5570 in permance.
since the 5570 is EOL it cost 6000/ approx.
Wh about HD 6450

3. Wh about the XFX HD6670 rs 5300/ is it a good price

4. Instead of the 20' monitors in sr. no. 1 + Gt 520/Hd 6450, if i go a 19' benq lcd monitor (rs 5100/)+ XFxHD 5570 will it be a better choice.
gaming med settings mostly RTS games and RPG.

I am from goa so there is very limited choice. XFX seems to be the only brand available.the monitor is an urgent requirement.

Wireless mouse turns on computer when you click the button.

Is a bug or something I've accidentally turned on in the bios? I have a P5w dh deluxe from Asus, and whenever I pickup my wireless mouse and click on it, the computer will boot up lol

Did I wire something wrong? Does sound familiar? I have a feeling it's not mouse specific, but usb specific.

Hi

New here and despere a solution.

Have recently upgraded recently to ginger bread

Firmware 2.3.3
Build gingerbread.xxjvo

The btery life is terrible around 18 hs from charge to switch off with minimal usage, music (jukefox) bit of browsing and a text or two only.

Looking wh is using btery the biggest culprit appears to be android opering system over 30%, on present run it was logged 42%.

Jukefox accounted 25% and the rest are all single figure entries.

I have done all the sensible things like switching off gps and wifi when not needed. I get a good signal and up til now had getting a couple of days between charges even when using a lot heavier than shown above.

I upgraded using keis so from wh I can make out no need to factory reset as have seen elsewhere.

All help grey recieved to make my mobile, mobile once more!

i bought 1TB WD caviar green today. but i am worried if its safe to install it as i have already installed 2 HDDs on my local smps. complete PC specs are :

CPU : pentium dual core E5300 2.6GHz [running @ stock speed]
RAM : 4GB DDR2 800MHz
GPU : sparkle GT240 1GB DDR3 [stock speed]
HDDs : 250GB WD caviar blue and 500GB hitachi
ODD : LG burner
mobo : ASUS P5KPLAM/PS
2X 80mm LED fans [i keep them off during winter]
1X 92mm fan [csis fan]
PCI based USB card
SMPS : Hytech 450W with 19A on +12V rail.

i had OCed CPU to 3.4GHz and GPU to 630Mhz [from 550Mhz] when i used to play GTA4 and it was running fine.

should i install the new HDD

WD caviar green needs 0.55A on +12V.

i dont want to buy new SMPS :(

I have a Asus wl330N3G wireless router. I do have a Ta Photon Plus Dongle Huwei 1251 which is not compible with the Wireless router, so I have very less hopes of sharing my Broadband internet connection.
But I should be able to share the internet connection in network sharing mode.
Ta Photon Plus is connected to Laptop& active with some IP address xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx
Laptop a wired connection to Wifi Router (192.168.0.1192.168.0.2)
WIFI router a wireless connection to Samsung Galaxy SII (192.168.1.1192.168.1.5)
Now I want to access internet from the Samsung Andoid device from the Ta Photon Connection. From Android I am able to ping the Laptop (192.168.0.1) but not the TA Photon IP.

Hi all.

I bought my Galaxy S2 on the 21st of July from Carphone Warehouse on a new contract (Panther 30). I've with Orange a few years now but it was time an upgrade.
Ever since I've had the phone, I recieve duplice txt messages from anyone who txts me. It could be Iphone users, Blackberry users, other networks, you name it. I even get multiple txt messages from competetions (you know, when you try win all th gear on The Gadget Show and they send a conmion txt acknowledging y entry). I can recieve up to 56 of the same txt message throughout the day (they usually come in quite quickly) and I can even get them days after me first recieveing the original.

I went back to Carphone Warehouse their help but they suggested I rang Orange first to find out if it was a network problem or handset issue.
Orange were useless first but then I got through to technical support team 2. An action was opened and so we tried different solutions.

1. Factory reset of the handset. Didn't work.
2. Put my SIM card into another phone (Samsung D500). Suprisingly worked and I didn't recieve any duplices the whole day, which indiced it was indeed a handset problem. We agreed th I should go back to Carphone Warehouse and get a new handset but if the problem continued then I should get back in contact with the same chap in techincal support team 2.

3. Went off to Carphone Warehouse. Got the new handset. Untunly the problem remained. It actually got much worse!
4. Got back in contact with the chap Orange and he could see on his system th there were error codes and th the recieved txt messages weren't recognized being recieved, theree would be sent again and again. All the inmion we had was sent off the tech boffins Orange to see if they could think of a solution.
5. Finally Orange came back with an answer, which was th I should try a new SIM card (register it and everything). So they sent one, which only arrived morning (took 8days). I've recieved the Orange txt th should come within 24hs and then deleted it and turned the phone off. BUT NO! n't worked either. I've already recieved duplice txt messages from someone. Three of one, and two of another txt.

I usually have 3bars to signal where I am so it's not as though poor signal is causing . Everyone else in the house is on Orange too and doesn't have same problem. I never did either on my old Nokia 5800. It doesn't just happen home though. I could be anywhere.

I don't know if it would help but here is some more info:

Signal strength (right now), 83dBm 15asu
Mobile network, GPRS (there is no 3G around us so I turned it off).
Model number, GTI9100
Android version, 2.3.3

I was browsing sometime then suddenly the net went off.Then when again it came back and i tried to open a using opera google search engine.(pls refer the image)Generally i use th only searching.


1.It said the browser is no longer supported and gave an option to upde.
2.I did and saved the downloaded file on the desktop.
3.When i double clicked th file after few secs it just vanished.But still opera gave same message.
4.I repeed the steps again but in vain.
5.Then i restarted the system.Now if i dont connect to the internet the system works fine but if i connect after few secs it slows down too much.Task manager shows 100% cpu usage.Even it takes ages to refresh.

I am on windows 7 pro (dual boot) sp1.

I know discussed many times, and I have searched the um my specific situion and could not find it. My sons 3Gs is stuck in recovery mode with the hook me up to iTunes screen. We did , and proceeded to DL the lest iOS onto it, after it connects it gives an error could not restore 34xx, so I look up the error code, says I need the lest version of iTunes, so I DL th. Reboot laptop, hard reset the 3GS, plug it back up and same error. Im work, WAP, so I can't be as detailed as I would like to be. Any suggestion would be apprecied.

OK I bought an I 5830, and it turns out it is a refernce sample, truly if i had known it was an R.S. i wouldn't have gotten it. but stuck with it now, and knowing it is not a retail card, could I flash the bio's on thing and possibly end up with a 5870 or 5850. Being an early test sample, might the extra shaders just be shut off in the bio's and not cut on the chip? would there be a way of checking bee I flash, just to see if it was worth while.
I mean if its not gonna increase the shader count why do it?:confused:

Hi, Every now and then, when i switch my Galaxy S off bee i go to bed, it goes fl overnight, even when y charged, it won't switch on the next morning and to be charged from scrch?

anyone else had or got problem? the btery seems fine, and if i leave it switched on its fine, it doesn't happen all the time, but happened about 10 times in the last few months, its almost as if the phone isn't switching off even though the screen is black.

Hello All,

I am new to um and hence not sure if post is in the correct section. If not, please excuse as I am still trying to get my way around um.

I own a Samsung Galaxy S2 and a few weeks ago, I set up yahoo, gmail, hotmail and my hosting account on the default email client... the one with an envelope with the red '@' symbol on it.

Everything worked fine and I could send and recieve emails until I decided to configure & test my office emails on SGS2. I had to use the ActiveSync feure as my office is using MS Exchange.

Everything worked fine until I decided to delete my office email account from the client.

Now when I open any of the email accounts it goes in to a 'refresh' loop but does not do anything. I have tried deleting and recreing the accounts but all in vain.

behavior occurs on both WiFi and da package services.

Anyone come across ?

Any assistance would be apprecied

Can anyone give me any advice as to how to get video clips taken with my sanyo video camera into iMovie on iPad 2.
present I am loading the clips onto my iPad from sd card, using apple camera connection kit. loads the clips into my albums section but not to my camera roll. I then have to email the clip to myself, open the email and the save the clip to camera roll. I can then load them into iMovie editing. seems a very long winded method of doing as sometimes I have to edit the clips prior to emailing them to myself due to the size of the files.
Does anyone know of another method, or is there something I am missing.

Around a year back, dad bought a spanking new "highend" canon camera when he went on a trip to singapore. It was the Canon IXUS 105. As is pretty obvious, is one of the cheapest halfdecent cams you can buy today.

Anyway, I'm stuck with another 23 years. So until then I plan to master photography with a humble little bulge in my pocket. My main intention is to be able to take camera to its limits and then upgrade to a DSLR.

So far I've read up on photography basics, iso, aperture, focal length, exposure, etc. And since CHDK is not yet available IXUS 105 nor am I able to get SDM to work, I'm pretty much stuck to using digital controls all above without manually being able to specify anything.

Hi everyone, i got my laptop yesterday. I want few answers first:

1.Tell how many hrs should i charge it as i have heard th we have to charge it 68hrs. It came y charged from the box. And ive used it little much last night but i started laptop with ac power on in the eve.

2.I want to completely wipe the hdd and install from the scrch (i want to wipe recovery partition too). I got Dell customized windows 7 HP dvd, will it able to install clean win7, i dont think so, am i correct? How to get a win 7 dvd then which can install clean version.

3.After installing clean version how to active it ?

4. After clean install and activing we can cree a recovery drive seperely like it came by default?

Concerned with the wifi signal strength home with my BT Home Hub 2.0, I wanted to get some real da to throw Samsung and back up the 1 "bar" I was getting in the adjacent room to the router.

I downloaded Wifi Analyzer (WA) and ran it. Something strange appeared to happen; the signal strength reported by the task bar icon seems to have improved by least 1 "bar". Is me willing the thing to improve or WA perhaps kicked something into life?

Its odd, i just got case my bro n wut it came with is a USB 3.0 Extension cable, th connects to a back port front port, ths cheap, the AsRock 970 Extreme 4 Mobo a USB 3.0 Header.

I would go #2 as it is faster & have 4GB more but i am not to sure on the quality & reliability of Priot drives?

So I restarted it, switched it on and off airplane Mode, restarted the network settings to factory default and little did I know I just didnt have service in th area Haha dumb me. Anyways question. I don't know exactly wh I did to the phone by "resetting retwork settings to factory default" should I be worried? Wh does th mean? How do I get them back to the way I use to have them? the beginning of the week I received my newtome iPhone 4. is my first iPhone. the past few weeks, ever since the Gingerbread upde in fact, I've having an increasing amount of problems with my previously reliable Droid X. Bee I got to the point of smashing the everloving guts out of the thing, I hopped on eBay and picked up a really clean and lightly used iPhone 4 to replace it.

So, review time. I try to be as unbiased as I can, and maybe will help others looking to make a similar switch.

First, the bad. Not because I'm a pessimist, but because there's really not much to complain about. Note, all these things are completely opinion reled.

Cons

1. Size. I'm slowly getting used to it, but I really miss the 4.3" screen of the Droid X. My fingers felt a little less cramped, and it seems to stand out the moment.

2. It's slick. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful package (more in the pros), but the slick back creed near incidents a few too many time. It slides off any fabric surface th isn't completely level. A case will fix th.

3. It needs too much protection. I feel like every little thing is going to ruin phone. Part of it is because it's a damn fine looking phone and I don't want to ruin it if I can help it all. But th bothers me to some extent. I he cases phones.

3b. Kind of a sub problem of the above, but why does not have Gorilla glass? no time have I ever felt the need to have a screen protector on the DX. It's in my pockets, smashed with keys, and I've done the heavy handed scrch test to impress the friends and still the screen looks brand new with nary a scrch. I he screen protectors.

4. SMS/MMS ch bubbles. Sorry, just not my style. They look goofy.

5. I really miss a dediced camera button.

6. I really really really miss Swype.


Pros

1. Have I mentioned it's a beautiful design? I never liked the previous edition iPhones. I dislike the curved nonsense. The slab sides really appeal to me. It looks impressive all angles. Even the volume buttons look sharp and well crafted.

2. Camera. The DX may have an 8 megapixel camera, but it's got a crap sensor. Every picture I took with th phone had washed out colors and a grainy resolution. I've seen wh can be done with th camera, but I can't imagine the b.s. th takes place to get a decent shot. The iPhone camera takes superior pictures.

3. Screen. It's fantastic. The colors are bright and vibrant. I remember how dull the colors were when I switched from the first Droid to the Droid X. After a certain amount of time, I got used to it and it didn't bother me anymore, but when I switched to the iPhone, the colors were incredibly bright and vibrant in comparison.

4. EMail. I have six email accounts hooked up to phone and they all work flawlessly. On the DX, I had certifice problems with my hotmail accounts. Also, thank god a unified inbox. I know there were ways to do it on the DX, but it was cantankerous. And wh really bothered me was how there was a Gmail app/program, and then a completely separe app/program to handle any email th was not Gmail. I don't need two separe programs to handle on function.

5. Mute switch. Why do all phones not have ?

6. No fragmention. Seriously, it's becoming a huge problem. There are android phones th I think are excellent in terms of hardware th I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole because they ship with an old OS and have a dubious timetable upgrades. I know some people don't care. I do. I refuse to pay 200 300 a phone th's running and old OS.

Th's about it the moment. It's still very early in the game. I have a case th should arrive tomorrow or Surday th will hopey take care of the slick/sliding problem and give it a bit of a boost of protection. I have an iPad th should be here Surday or Monday to tinker with to get more of a feel of the iOS sandbox. So far so good.

Anyone know of a fix as when I ask it to download all the upde software needed it tells me it is not available on the download server.

Hi there! I have an iphone 4.After I had to upde to 4.3.5 I found a way I googled to downgrade to 4.3.3 changing the hosts file to saurics server and after the iTunes error 1013 I think, I exited the recovery mode using the fix recovery 4.3. All good I jailbreaked via redsnow rc19. After a few cydia tweaks installed and restored my apps from iTunes , my iPhone from time to time throws a black screen , without locking it. As a result the ipod stops playing music if it is running . When I reopen springboard with the home button the brightness is lower... A huge issue! Any ideas??? Thanks

is probably the noobiest question I have asked...thus far. ;)

I just got my new HD and thought alright time to install it physically then reinstall all of my programs, and windows, etc. However I got to thinking I KNOW there are ways of copying things over.

So how?

I don't mean copying files as in right click, copy, paste. I am wondering if there is a way to copy EVERYTHING. Including files, drivers, and windows itself. So, is there?

Well here how's it stands:
M I got three 580s. Two are vanilla, one with accelero xtreme on top of it they are set in 3way sli.
I have a chance to swap them two 6990s, and possibly get 150$ along with them.
Question is : should I ?

I was getting tired of some of my mp3s not having tags, so I decided to change the title mting to include a nice (unobtrusive) exclamion mark bee the title if it doesn't include either the artist tag or the title tag so I could tell the difference, like so:

However, ( some reason) doesn't put the exclamion mark there; so I thought I did something wrong and tried:

And, although shows the exclamion mark, it includes the entire ph; not quite as unobtrusive as I'd hoped. I've tried putting the exclamion after %filepart%, two exclamions bee, etc. None of the work.

Anyways, normally I wouldn't bug you with , but I couldn't find a way to send a bug report or anything. I would like if someone made sure isn't just me.

Just curious...

Do you hold it with y palm resting on the body of the mouse and having y wrist eleved off the pad?

Or do you rest y wrist on the pad and control the mouse with just y fingers?

Or something different?

i've seen on many reviews sting th you have access to social networks such as facebook and you can even access y email from y nokia 5230. (as sted here http://www.nokia.co.uk/findproducts...specificions)
The thing is, it doesnt have wifi, so how can you conect to the internet to access those funtions. Please answer asap, thank you

[Mob] Why is Tipb so memory intensive?

I often go through the tipb blog, opening interesting s in new tab till I've sifted through all the new ones. However, I notice th the browser gets really choppy on tipb, and have suspected some freezes on my slow computer because of it.

Today, in task manager chrome, I found th the single remaining tipb on my screen, which had y loaded, and commentsupding disabled, required 74k (whever unit it is), just as much as the whole browser itself.

Anyone else notice ? Any reason it? Looks like a stic page to me

Hey guys,i am looking a very low powered graphics card th can play super old games like KOTOR and probably most top end is Sims 3.
The reason i ask very low power its because i would be installing graphics card into a prebuild system which was made by HP which probably have like generic 250350w PSU or something.
Budget i would only like £10.
I am looking a 8600GT on ebay on bid right now,but i was hoping if others have other suggestions.

Untunely, he was a real genius. He made them in shs m! :twitch:

Today I tried to transfer a photo to my Ipad2 the bluetooth paired but the iPad said the galaxy is not compible. Have apple put a block in connecting to the Galaxy, hope not and it's something I am doing wrong.

Hello folks,
After a lot of web searching and trying... i want confirmion on some fact.
I have an iphone 4, 4.3.3 with baseband 4.10.01. I want to unlock my phone... BAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPP

So, my option...

The Gevey sim: some people had some trouble with th, with the 3g and the phone stability... so an option not really top. Right?

Downgrade my 4.10.01 to anothher unlocking compible: Its not clear me, its viable? or impossible?

Upgrade to the Ipad Baseband. So im gonna be on Os 4.3.3, with baseband 6.15 of the ipad, without any warranty. option, i like it, but i need to be sure i can unlock my iphone after th. Can i ?

Buying a new iphone to my provider... bahhhhh please NOOOOOOO!
